Google’s New Algorithm Emphasizes Fresh Content

Google has been updating its search algorithms so that it now can crawl and index fresh data on an enormous scale. Google calls this their Caffeine web indexing system. This new update to Google’s search algorithm will dramatically effect search results and traffic to individual sites. Caffeine will do the following:Find the latest information about events (e.g. the Occupy Movement) and hot topics. It will give priority to the freshest news information. Provide the most recent information for recurring events (e.g. Presidential Elections, Olympics). 10 Rules for Link Building

John Chow published an interesting article on link building.  Briefly summarized, the rules are:No comment spamming Be judicious with article marketing and guest blogging. Don’t spam forums with thousands of profiles Slowly build your social bookmarking presence Limit your directory budget to high quality directories Don’t be too concerned with page rank. Concentrate on views and SERP (search engine results page). Don’t spam for reciprocal links. Avoid link farms. Change your anchor text on different sites.
